DS: Is there anything that people working with rescues/shelters do to get dogs adopted that bother you?

Yeah, ok..... ADD: See Aphrodite, I am good...sunshine, Unicorns, one was spotted 3 days a go in Quebec by the way...and flowers, it all sounds so good. Seriously, a bullet in the head, just like it has been done for many years, would work 100 times better, but, since we are NOT thinking about the dog but US, we need to be more PC. ADD: Felicia, I agree with you, I am well versed in the use of firearms.

Could I do it to my own dog, in the cases you mentioned, yes, but, I cannot see any other reason to shot my own animal, unless he was trying to kill me of course.

I've heard of it, but thank GOD never saw it happen. The article states it clearly. It was a "botched" euthanasia.

Either they wayyy under dosed the animal, or the solution was watered down which presents it's OWN mystery. Had an employee taken some euthanasia solution (for their own use) and watered the bottle down so it was not obvious? This is why MOST VETS will take the time to make sure the animals heart has STOPPED beating and the eye reflex is gone before declaring the procedure complete.

I would just be aghast... and the thought of the dog being buried alive makes my knees weak. Having the dog re-euthanized would be horrible, and I dang sure would NOT do it at the same vets. Emotionally, I'd have to recoup from that mess for awhile before I could gut up to do it again.

If the dog was in extreme pain I would have it properly put down. ADDED: Legit Inga... OMG.. I watched Pet Cemetery years ago on a bet and that movie 100% CURED me of watching scary movies. That movie traumatized me.. it was just too evil and wrong.

LOL again @ Inga and Misery. Greek - I know how to handle a gun, but honestly.. I could NOT shoot my own dog unless it was critically injured, in excruciating pain and a vet was miles away. Given the # of humane "needle" euthanasia's performed annually in the USA - I'm sure the statistical #s on botched veterinary performed euthanasia's is extremely low.

Not to mention probably much safer then the average person wielding a handgun trying to shoot a dog while someone else attempts to restrain it. That sounds like a real recipe for disaster to me. VERY FEW people could pull off a "gun shot" euthanasia correctly - especially if they were upset while doing so.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
