That depends completely on your working conditions, Working notice is not, in itself, legally binding, unless it is part of a contract you have signed with your employer, agreeing a term of notice. In that case, it is binding on both sides, which means an employer can't sack you on a whim, and must continue to pay you until the period of notice has been completed. So, if you have a contract, check it and remind yourself of what it says.
If not, it's up to you. Most people would offer to work a week/two weeks/a month's notice - for one reason or another. It may be in fairness to work colleagues whom you have come to regard as friends; it may be you want a little leeway to try and find a new job; it may be that you just want a few more weeks' pay.
However, be aware that management do not need to accept your offer, and can decide to terminate your employment at any time, as it will be construed that you are refusing to continue to do the job for which you're being paid. Most employers will not allow you to leave until they're satisfied that they have things in place to cover your departure, and will ask you to work to the end of the week, or, if you have a good working relationship, they may accept your offer of notice as you propose. Just walking out is not a good idea, as any future employer who asks your present employer for a reference is liable to get an unfavourable response.
The important thing is to be aware of your situation - most employees exploit such situations, not because they are unscrupulous, but because the person they are dealing with does not know his/her rights, and they can get away with it.
Notice is generally a courtesy, not a requirement. Your upcoming employers could look at you in a negative light if they found out that you just walked out on your old job without notice. It's up to you how you want to play it.
A months notice is mighty generous. Most people only give two weeks.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
