All those things you've listed there are basically the stereotypes of 'emo'. Your family don't know anything about emotive hardcore, neither do anyone who labels you emo. My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Black Veil Brides etc ARE NOT emo bands.
Your favourite colours etc have nothing to do with emo and neither do your interests. Emo means emotive hardcore and it was a sub genre of hardcore punk formed in Washington D. C in 1985.
A band called Minor Threat had a side project and a Minor Threat fan called Guy Picciotto carried it out with his band Rites of Spring. Fans of Rites of Spring labeled their music as 'emo' but the RoS members deny it to this day. Most importantly, you cannot physically or scientifically be 'emo' it's impossible to be a dead sub genre which died in the 90's and never evolved.
You're listening to MCR right now and I'm listen to Pg.99 a real screamo band and wearing my Sunny Day Real Estate t shirt, I've got more chance of being a real emo more than you have. If it's one thing you should not do is listen to what other people say and take those stupid 'What is your stereotype / label?' quizzes because they'll give you the wrong impression on what something is and you'll learn the hard way. Honestly, I learnt that way because I did all those quizzes and it's horrible when your information changes because you've found somethig that makes more sense than the last thing you know.
It's easier to get your information from a right out source, even if you have to look on Wiki or even just type in google 'emotive hardcore' because you'll get some good results. Take a look at this: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.ph... Just listen to real emo and screamo bands such as Rites of Spring, Embrace (U. S), Indian Summer (U.
S), Moss Icon, Gray Matter, Cap'n Jazz, The Pine, I Hate Myself, American Football, Sunny Day Real Estate, Twelve Hour Turn, I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, Portraits of Past, Orchid (make sure you get the screamo band not the metal band), Pg,99, Pianos Become The Teeth, City of a Caterpillar and Circle Takes The Sqaure and call yourself 'a follower of emo'. It means you follow the sub genre, you listen to the band but you don't call yourself it and that what matters. Bearing in mind that it has nothing to do with your clothing style, hair, make-up or attitude.
You do not need to write poetry etc. Listen to those bands and customise your own band t shirts if you want, people won't know who they are but at least you'll be a 'real emo' if you want. If you're a teenager, then the only reason you're sensitive is because of hormones and if you go by this label for 'being emotional' you will realise you will not need the label once your most emotional years are over, you'll just drop it and 'be yourself'. Emo music is just punk but instead of the lyrics being about rebellion it's about people talking about their lives.
It's not promoting self harm and depression like most bands who have somber lyrics today. For now you're scene.
Well that depends on what you mean by "emo". I would have to say that I'm a "half emo". I love black and always wore dark clothes and always wanted to dye my hair red at the tips.
It's ok if you're emo. But don't cut yourself. If your personality is emoish, then ok.
You shouldn't ggive a **** about what other people say about you. I guess you're goIng through an emo stage right now but it'll pass...I think? But remember you should think positive about life, like chocolate!
And cookies! And you have to feel confident about yourself, so you can get out of the emo stage.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
