Fellow atheists: what do you think about this research that finds that only 6% of scientists are Republicans?

Interesting proposition, even though I don't see how one issue (being an atheist), is involved with the other (being Republican, Independent or Democrat). While Republicans seem to be more 'traditional' relogious, I also think that Democrats are quite religious in nature. I don't think that politics and science should be in any conflict, while religion and science ARE in conflict.

While religion is purely based on 'Thy Shall Not Doubt', science is based on 'Thy Shall Doubt Everything'. Some approach science as a religion, and some are 'hardliners' similarly to religious fanatics. How all of this reflects to politics, I don't know.

This seems to indicate that the Republicans are more religion-aligned than science-aligned, while the Democrats seem to be more aligned to science. When looking at the previous presidential elections, I think this assumption is pretty accurate.

I asked a question about this a while back. The really unfortunate thing about this is that so many people don't realize how out of whack the parties are. They seem to be confused by the conservative and religious claims that use out of date science questions and that quote disreputable, faux scientists.

They don't grasp that the Republicans and their religious supporters are not just anti-science and anti-intellectual; but, are just plain wrong on so many facts that scientists despise them.

These are very interesting and thought-provocative Pew Research poll results. According to this research, 55% scientists are Democrats, and only 6% are Republicans. These findings seem to be quite correct, as the scientists have bright hopes about the development of science from the President Obama government.

Another fact revealed by the research is that only 20% public considers scientists as liberal. I personally feel that scientists are quite liberal. The truth is that scientists endeavour passionately to find truth without making any distinction among different creeds, religions and nations.

If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
