I have not had an issue with the Auto-NBA Monster lately but I think that is because I have not answered as many questions as I used to and the ones I do answer are the more popular questions so I will be sure that at least some of the answers given to these popular questions will get a vote or two.. my answer or the answer of someone else. It does not matter as long as the questions closes with an answer decided as best I am happy. I'd like to answer more but won't if the Auto-NBA Monster is still around.Now.. the front page "Interesting Questions" section.. wow what a waste of space that became.
I went to bed last night at around midnight EST and the "interesting questions" section had just turned into that weird "historical document" you mention and I was SURE it was a big OOPS moment and by morning it would be back to normal..however this morning it was still the same waste of space. No new questions will ever get up there again as the only reason those questions got so many votes was because the built the interesting votes organically one at a time and those gave the question some front page hang time.. enough time to get the additional 14+ all of the "interesting questions" have now. Without this organic building of interesting votes no questions will meet or surpass this 14 vote threshold again and many of those old questions are closed.
I sent an email this morning to Corey in hopes of an answer, maybe something like "Oops Mark do not worry we are on it and will be back to normal soon, sometime very soon. " I have not received a response yet and pray they are working on the issue and that is the reason for a delayed staff response. Please Mahalo staff.
Bring back the "interesting question" section. :) EDIT.. just got word form Corey.. the "historical document" of the "interesting questions" section is a "FEATURE".. Wow, really? MONTH old questions are a "feature" The logic just escapes me.
This will kill team tipping if our team tips will do nothing to get the questions moved up there.. 14+ votes is impossible in this sorting of questions.
I try to answer a few sister site questions when I'm feeling less p! Ssed off. I don't answer anonymous questions anymore, or very few.
I've been punched and hurt by the monster too often ( and I have second thoughts about the fix, doubts you know ) I try to vote helpful some every day, I should do more but its hard because of the sister site bugs I try to vote up a few questions but again, its always more logging in, more bugs to get anywhere. I've spent some time doing pages and stuff but I'm not very good at them yet so its slow and for me a bit boring :( I wish I could get enthusiastic I'm tired of these bug threads, and complaining threads, and new issues and changes threads. Its getting far too hard to think positively.
I agree with them all, that's the problem...I know everyone feels the same as I do. I wish the impulsivity could be stopped, halted, slowed down for goodness sake. What darn business deadlines are happening to put the entire Mahlo community off-side?
We've all wasted time and effort and been deprived of income that has naturally saved Mahalo money. We've all tried to get by and cope with massive amounts of change. And we've often tried the different areas of Mahalo in the process, which I'm sure they hope for in some way....I don't know.... Mahalo, please stop and fix the bugs that already exist.
Please stop wasting everyone's effort so blatantly by auto-NBAs and please consider a clean and professional DLC.
The good news is that during our deploy last night (site update) our devs pushed a fix that should remedy the "auto-NBA" problem entirely - huzzah! If this is not the case, and if any users still see this occurring on the site, please let us know and we will keep investigating the problem. Regarding the Most Popular section, thanks for the feedback.
Mahalo is still new and we're fans of trying new features and setups on the site. User feedback is, obviously, very important to us. You should always feel free to send an email to (contact(at)mahalo(dot)com), as we read and consider every email that comes our way.
Thanks to everyone for helping us build a rockstar site!
I am thinking maybe we should create a forum where we can communicate among ourselves without the vagaries of being able to find Q&A threads. If anyone has any ideas how to best do that, please answer my question here: mahalo.com/answers/online-communication-... What is the best free forum hosting site? If you do not know the answer, but think such a forum would be a good idea, please vote up the question so it will get seen by more people.
Not much around here makes sense anymore, or even works it seems. I noticed this new FEATURE after coming back from the movies last night. That and the payout issues are another motivation killer.
Not being able to even login at most the sister sites suck too. Hope this all gets fixed. What needs to happen is to fix what's there now instead of changing everything again.
Heavy sigh* This used to be such a nice, simple, easy site to navigate. I know we have to keep the programmers earning their pay, but it's getting depressing now....seriously.
For many of us -- I've read all the threads -- the real problem bug right now is getting the correct points and dollars for BAs. This has been going on for more than month without resolution. What does this say about management's view of our needs rather than theirs?
This nonsense with sister sites should cease until the basic site works properly, I think. Focus the developers for goodness sakes!
Crud! This went in as a comment! Sorry!
Must have been the tuna melt at lunch... I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has actually used a sister site and received BA or just answered a question. What's up with points? Do we not get Mahalo points for answering questions there (2)?
Additionally, I do not believe I received points for my BA there. Wasn't keeping close track, but I have no idea if I received the tip on the question. At the moment, the tips are not my issue.
Points are. No points, no answers. Just like CLand.
I'll spend time answering questions that will help my belt level. Unlike others, I'm at a point where I need to work on that. Would love commentary.
Hope it was okay to ask this here!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
