Food Shortages—An Evidence of What?

Food shortage in America isn't a subject that gets too much attention like, say, the economy, politics, terrorism or discount shopping. But the fact is, food security (or more specifically, food insecurity) along with the rising cost of food is a real but little-known concern among the "regular folks" in the US. While it's true that the US has millions of acres of farmland ready to grow food, it's an idea that has worked great in pockets primarily because of localized farming, storage & preservation issues and transportation costs.

For the majority of us in semi-urban, urban and metropolitan areas, the dependence on supermarkets and grocery stores for our source of food is overwhelming. Now look at the incidents of weather changes, flooding, drought, crop failures, water shortages, political turmoil, unfair taxes, crude oil prices, inflation... all of which have challenged the global status quo in the recent past, and also affect food production either directly or indirectly. Also spare a thought for America's difficult years between 2008-present, including the recession and its ongoing residual effects.

Food shortage is definitely an issue that needs real attention, both among Americans and global citizens. I'm personally aware of groups in my area who have been into "survival food" since early 2001.

The "food crisis" in the U.S.A. is strikingly similar to the "crisis" of the 1950's and 1960's. During those years the companies dumped hundreds of tons of food crops into the ocean rather than to sell them "at a loss" or to sell them to countries that needed the food (some of the states of the U.S.S.R. being part of that category) such as African nations, some of the Balkan nations, & etc. You *may* be able to research this when and if Wiki comes back online or use Google today. Don't forget to sign the petition!

Anyway, the "food crisis" is identical to the "fuel crisis" and the "global climate change" crisis in than the intended result is increased profits for greedy corporations and their duly-purchased ultra-rich politicos. The aforementioned politicos *could* correct these problems if they wished to do so, but they never will so long as they are the elected royalty. What, the people have no bread to eat?

Then let them eat cake! The politicians have come to believe that they are our masters rather than our servants. They are out of control.

It's time to vote ALL of them out of office. We need to have a 'REMOVE INCUMBENT' option on the ballot.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
