For all of you who continue to "freak out" over Swine Flu, take a look at this. >>SCIENTISTS SEE THIS FLU STRAIN AS RELATIVELY MILD (L.A. Times)Genetic data indicates this outbreak won't be as deadly as that of 1918, or even the average winter. By Karen Kaplan and Alan ZaremboApril 30, 2009As the World Health Organization raised its infectious disease alert level Wednesday and health officials confirmed the first death linked to swine flu inside U.S. Borders, scientists studying the virus are coming to the consensus that this hybrid strain of influenza -- at least in its current form -- isn't shaping up to be as fatal as the strains that caused some previous pandemics. In fact, the current outbreak of the H1N1 virus, which emerged in San Diego and southern Mexico late last month, may not even do as much damage as the run-of-the-mill flu outbreaks that occur each winter without much fanfare.

Thank god someone that is speaking some sense about all this swine flu. For once, the media say something and then you get the general public just erupting into pandamonium. Hmm .

People are idiots This is just the flu. It's a non-event that the WHO and other health organizations (local and national) are using to get more funding, grants, money in general. So they need to keep the sensationalizim going as long as possible.

Just because this particular strain of flu has a name doesn't make it special. But it must be a slow news day, or the reporters are ignorant too. Who cares if a couple hundred or more people die from the swine flu?!

Anybody that isn't a moron already knows that, depending on who's numbers you believe, 20,000 to 36,000 people die in the U.S. From flu each year. I'd be willing to better that the population percentage is even higher in 2nd and 3rd world countries. Of course it's higher in Mexico City.

Terrible polution, overcrowding, and probably much less stringent public water quality and resturant health inspections. A lot less quality health care there in general. So yes, it will spread more there. Even in the U.S.There are huge numbers of people that don't get vacinated for whatever silly reason.

Them, and the very young and elderly are at risk. Same as always. Sources: CDC .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
