That's tricky.... I was thinking Einstein before I saw the details of your question, and I think I'm going to stick with it even if it seems to lack imagination now. The difficulty is picking one of the following two questions to ask: 1: When did you first come to accept that we don't live in a static universe (hence the predictions of general relativity were consistent with observation) and how did you feel? This is significant because he spent a great deal of time (something of the order of ten years if I remember correctly) attempting to "correct" the theory to be consistent with the prevailing view at the time that the universe was static.
It's now quite generally accepted that it's probably expanded and this is consistent with the original theory. Of course there's rather more too it than that, but it would still be fascinating to know.2: Do you still believe that "God does not play dice"? This was Einstein's primary philosophical objection to quantum mechanics.
I wonder what he would say now that the theory is much more developed. Would he accept that perhaps, in fact, there is randomness in the universe or would he still argue that there can be none? Perhaps neither seems that interesting to you, but that's what too much physics does to you....
Then after, he stops giggling, I'd ask how in the world his theory of relativity came to him...what made him think to even consider it. What the heck is going on in that head of his..
Jim Morrison The man was definitely a genius, and had all of the troubles to go with it. I would ask him if it was all worth it, in short : Is it better to burn out, or fade away? Brad .
Ask Marilyn - Because Random Crap/Trivia, Human Behavior and other Issues are equally important - sound familiar?! Here’s an example of a great question/answer asked last year, (Source: parade.com/articles/editions/2006/editio... - For informational purposes): "Why are so many people concerned with what others think of them, especially people they don’t even know? —Larry Liebman, Dallas, Tex.
I doubt that this concern is natural—meaning, we’re not born that way—but I do think it becomes second nature as part of the socialization process. We would be cold, uncaring men and women if we were reared to ignore what others think of us. How could we be indifferent about that yet care what others think about anything else?
In short: If you care what others think of you, you must care about others. " Probably why I like Askville, also. I like questions and answers that answer questions that many of us may wonder about, but never resolve - Marilyn, in my opinion, tells like it is, in her "expert" opinion.
She is one smart cookie - I might not always agree with her, but her diversity in responding to questions is wide and varied, which keeps her interesting - additionally, the above question is one that I would like to ask and have seen asked on Askville.
