Big fan of the books. So much richer and deeper! When I first read them, I mixed up secondary characters all the time, but between the website Tower of the Hand and the HBO show, that's less a problem.
Consider, for example, when Arya is passing as a boy and is hiding in the woods with two other boys after the men protecting them have been killed. The scene with the "I yield" aspect lasts many pages, not fifteen seconds. You feel really bad for the boy in a way the show didn't elicit.
But I'm glad you gave the books a shot and hope you won't give up. Feel free to ask questions here if you get mixed up like I did.
I like the book. I don't think it's boring, but books and tv shows are quite different things. It helps me to focus when I go to a library or our local pond.
Focusing with the computer or tv around is hard to do. I haven't watched the show yet because I want to finish the book first.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
