Germany Vs Spain in 2010 World cup: Who do you think would win and why?

I'll break down the matchup starting first with Germany, who has for the most part, dominated opponents. They won two game with one loss. They scored five goals and allowed only one in the three games.

Then Germany defeated England and Argentina 4-1 and 4-0. Clearly they have been the most dominant team in the World Cup. Spain advanced out of the first round also with two wins and one loss.

They scored four goals and allowed two in their three games. Next they defeated Portugal and Paraguay by the score of 1-0. It appears to me that Spain wins mostly by defense having scored just six goals in five games.

Germany, on the other hand, possesses a high potent scoring attack, having scored 13 goals in five games. Both have great defensive teams but Germany's offense will be a bit too much for Spain to handle. I predict Germany to win by a score of 2-0 or 3-1.

Well, the game is over, but I’ll still answer this question. One month ago, I said that Spain will win the WC 2010. Therefore my answer is the same on this question as it was 1 month ago.

The fact is, that many soccer fans, are lured by the scores that were registered in previous games. Such as Germany - Argentina (4-0). But the truth is different.

The score doesn’t mean a thing. It doesn’t matter if you qualified first in the group, or if you won with 7-0 (see Portugal against North Coreea). Doesn’t matter who has the ball possession or how many corners a team won.

The only thing that matters after 90 minutes is who wins. For me, that 1-0 I saw last night was better than that 4-0, I saw in Germany against Argentina.

I believe Germany will win. I believe this because they have a lot of momentum on their side. They have been scoring 3-4 goals a game which is far better than everyone else.

Spain is one of the top teams in the world to they could definitely win, but they are fighting an uphill battle with the momentum that Germany has right now.
