Hair Dryers & Hearing Loss?

Hair Dryers & Hearing Loss My wife uses a hair dryer every day and I'm concerned she is losing her hearing from the constant whine close to her ears. Is there any data on this to show loss from hair dryers? Are there some that are significantly quieter?(She doesn't like the in-the-ear plugs I gave her -- says they interfere with getting a good "do.

You ar right, hair dryers CAN cause hearing loss! Hairdryer is equivelant to lawnmower use! From the link:QUESTION: Can a hair dryer harm hearing?

My hair dryer is very loud, and I always have a slight ringing in my ears when I use it on the high setting. ANSWER: Yes. A person's hearing can be harmed by sudden loud noise and by exposure to loud noise over time.

The louder the noise, the shorter the period of time you can be exposed without damage. If your hair dryer is loud enough to make your ears ring, it could damage your hearing over time. I suggest you don't use your hair dryer on high setting, use it for less time or find a dryer that is not as loud.

Yes, hair dryers can cause hearing loss. Get a hair dryer that are designed to be quiet. The noise produced by a hair dryer is potentially harmful.

They can produce in excess of 90 decibels. Some models are quiter than others - you just need to look specifically for those that are designed to be quiet. You should be able to find them at your local drugstore, wal-mart, or buy it online.

You should consider buying one similar to this for your wife. Check the noise rating on whatever model you end up buying. If there is no noise rating, contact the manufacturer and ask for one!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
