Has anyone else got LOL wrong? A friend's just committed the most awful howler?

1 Oh my what a blooper... She should just let them know what it was she meant to say. I would do LOL but I should paraphrase it with Lots of Love...

If so, LOL! We have all been there before where we are the last to know about something. I would cite an example, but it is too embarrassing.

I used to think that LOL meant Lots Of Love, and it was a while before I realised that it meant Laugh Out Loud. I think I may have puzzled a fair number of people before I got it right ... however a friend (new to NetSpeak) has just confessed that on hearing of someone's sudden bereavement she sent a text message that finished with LOL - she meant to say Lots Of Love, of course. She's incredibly distressed, so I thought I'd ask the family whether anyone else has done the same or similar so that I can comfort her a little.

Lots of love,Valerie. If I would have looked for a meaning of this acronym, I would have found it. But something+++ in me said 'don't do it'.

It is so nice to meet you in 2010 AD/CE full of snow, economic depressions and/or recessions and a lot of people who don’t know yet that the prophet MOHAMMED NEVER EXISTED but we live it all. Let me start this still young New Year with sending you the address /URL of an exceptionally well-edited website on the Internet. There we go: http://www.acronymfinder.com/.

And indeed, I have looked for LOL thanks to your question and the first meaning was Lots Of Laughing. Lots Of Love had a honorable third place! Bronze is often much more beautiful than silver or gold.

Oliver Heidelbach, the founder of this jewel-page on the Internet is really a brilliant, very kind and curious man. If you change the only vocal in this acronym, than you can go to Holland and know one of the first organs men need to become father. That also might be a reason not to analyze this acronym.

Was on holidays here last Summer. The funny thing is that in my native Dutch we use the word ’kleinkind’, literally meaning ’smallchild’ for the English ’granddaughter’. Dana is very happy in Costa Rica where her mother works for the Dutch Third World Organization HIVOS and gives conferences, talks and things like these about AIDS an ’The legal rights of women’ in Latin-American countries.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
