Perhaps the best way to keep yellow jackets away from the hummingbird feeder is to install a bee trap nearby. Yellow Jackets by nature are not nectar gatherers... they will visit nectar sources and follow honeybees back to their hive where they scavenge dead bees. Installing a bee trap will deter the yellow jackets and trap them.
The bee trap usually does not work on honeybees or most other kinds of wasps. The yellow cone traps probably work the best and are easy to install, clean and reuse. These can be found at most hardware stores.
Lure them to a yellow jacket trap near the feeder. There are lots of home made versions on the internet like organicgardening.com/learn-and-grow/yel and those pretty ornamental glass traps like greenfeet.com/Glass-Wasp-Trap-p/5507-08 They won't go away completely, but you can decrease the population. And the hummer can have their feeder back.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
