If you're talking about doing it yourself at home... Your question didn't specify if you're doing it yourself or want tips for getting it done in a salon. So if you're talking about doing it yourself, here's my advice (from experience): 1) DON'T use those pre-waxed strips. They don't take the hair out as well.

Use a kit where you put the wax on with a stick. 2) I've had the best luck with hardening wax, rather than the goopey kind that you have to use a strip to take off. The best one (but kind of expensive) is the Poetic Waxing Kit from Bliss Spa.

You put it on, and within a minute or so the wax has hardened and you just pull of the hardened strip of wax. It doesn't stick to your skin and it works beautifully. 3) After waxing, use a topical solution to soothe the skin.

The best (but also expensive) is called Tend Skin. It soothes and prevents ingrown hairs. It does sting a little on freshly waxed skin though.

Good luck! The hardest part is bending your body into a position where you can see what you're doing! (Assuming you're doing a bikini wax...) Sources: My own adventures in waxing!

Wax after showering. The skin and hair is softer and is easier to pull out. Avon makes a product that you apply first before you wax, it has a numbing ingredient in it so it makes the waxing less painful.

Also, make sure that the hair you are waxing isn't too short or too long. Too short and the hair won't come out. Too long and it hurts like hell when you pull the wax off.

When you do waxing first press the wax and strip to the skin then pull the strip off in the opposite direction the hair grows. Sally Beauty Supply makes different waxes to use in a melter for different places you use wax on your body.
