I have if we can count insects. I was attacked by a swarm of Yellowjackets I was working for a party tent rental and setup company in Massachusetts in 1995 and we were working one morning setting up a tent in Billerica Mass. Setting up the huge tent involved driving these 4 foot spikes into the ground, 3 at each corner of the tent.
For such a daunting task of driving a few spikes into the ground 1 man was assigned to each corner of the tent, this saved a bit of time. On my corner the tent spikes had to be a few feet into the woods and this was not an issue so I began and the first spike went in with a few swings of the sledge hammer. The next spike did it.
I took one swing at the spike and it fell into the ground like it was falling through a page of newspaper. Initially confused I just looked at the ground a bit dumbfounded. Then came the Yellowjackets and they came in a **huge** swarm as I had just injected their hive with a 4 foot spike and they were angry.
I ran around the yard trying helplessly to escape but could not. I eventually found a bit of refuge in the truck we drove down in (along with a couple dozen yellowjackets). I know how silly of a choice that was for an escape route but I was nearly in a panic.
I ended up being stung over 300 times and spent the next few hours in the hospital but I got a healthy respect for bees and have had a lifelong interest in learning about bees, yellowjackets and wasps etc and the preservation of them as well.
Yes, I was chased by a large RABID raccoon! I knew as soon as I saw him there was something wrong w/him, so I took off running - only to slip on the ice and fall down on my face! "rocky" climbed onto my shoulder as I lay on the pavement.
I screamed but no-one heard me. Finally I jumped up and ran for a building fast as I could, he fell off my shoulder. The police came and put him out of his misery and I had to get rabies shot for three weeks!
Actually yes, it was a bear. We were camping, got up early in the morning to exit the tent finding a mother bear with her two cubes. She only chased us to protect her cubs and a soon as we were far enough away from them she went back to them, they moved along and we went back to camping. It wasn't scary we understood what she was doing.
This will sound crazy, but its true. I have lived most of my life in the country. As a young child walking home from the bus stop I was often chased by my neighbor's cow.As I've gotten older, I've noticed that it wasn't this one cow in particular.
Any cow that I'm in the same pasture with will come towards me. A few months ago I went into my friend's pasture to catch a horse she wanted me to ride. We took the four wheeler out and as I approached the horse a longhorn turned its head and looked at me, and started to trot over.
I jumped on the four wheeler and screamed for her to go. I was imagining those huge horns sticking out of my side. Then I went out to take care of my horse.
Our other friend's cows had popped open the gate between the pastures and my horse was in with them. I hollered for him and he started running back to his pasture. Unfortunately the cows followed.
My husband had to tempt the cows back into their pasture with hay while I cowered behind my horse. I tried running towards them and waving my arms, didn't work. I ended up hiding behind my old cow horse while he pinned his ears at the cow.
I don't know what it is, but they come right for me, even though I prefer my steak rare.
No, I get chased by my cat all the time and though she does have sharp teeth and claws I can not honestly say she is scary. I take that back one night I woke up from a nightmare and got up to go to the bathroom I saw a pair of glowing eyes launch toward me. Startled like crazy, but I felt really sheepish afterward.
I was chased by a goose. Man those things are mean!
I was chased by a Bison. The male Bison is very aggressive.
I remember when I was still young, I was chased by a stray dog who was known to run after kids. I was so scared that time. I know, dogs aren't that scary but during those times, that dog looks even bigger than me and really, really looks scary.
No. I was trained how to deal with aggressive animals while on the job - the kind of training that mostly ends with lethal (for them) results, even if I'm unarmed. For the most part, animals leave me alone, or I can befriend them fairly quickly.
Non-feral (domesticated) cats immediately like me, mostly because they can smell my cats and are curious. Feral cats I can befriend albeit a bit more slowly. I'll read their body language, and give them a visual assessment to see how to handle the situation.
Dogs either like me immediately or try to assert that they are the alpha dog. They find out really quickly that they're NOT around me. It's funny when your neighbors have mean dogs that cower in fear when YOU walk by, but are again mean to everyone else.
Wild animals that I've seen when I worked in the country were generally just looking for something to eat. If you didn't have food, they'd move on. If you did have food, a well placed toss of a portion of it could buy you a distraction long enough to get indoors.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
