Have you ever been to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade?

I find that I am going to be in NY Thanksgiving week. Is the parade worth going to, or is it just a crowded mob scene? Any vantage viewing spots?

How about the "inflating of the balloons" the night before? Asked by TurboB 39 months ago Similar questions: Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade Society > Holidays.

Yes I have! I’ve been in the city for the parade twice in my life and I’m going back this year! Yes it is a mob scene, but it depends on your tolerance for crowds.

I’ve been in the area of Times Square both times, but this year I’m going to try the Central Park West area. I hear that the viewing is nice in that area but the weather can be a factor, so I’m going to play it fast and loose with my plans. The only real advice I can give is to get there early (6-7 AM), and leave the folding chairs at home (they’re discouraged by the powers that be).

Good luck and enjoy the adventure! Unfortunately I've never made it to the balloon inflation, and I won't this year either I'm afraid. But there's always next year....

1 That would be awesome! I think I'd HAVE to go just to say I've been.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
