3 It's fairly easy. I've got 3 screens going at any given time. When the system is compiling or I'm running tests, I have a few minutes to type.
4 Bosses have changed. Speaking for myself only, I showed my boss a long time ago that I am very good at my job. Therefore,he doesn't feel the need to, or have to, stand over me.
He pays me to do my job, and with effective time management and good job skills I get my work done and still have lots of time to "play around" on the internet. However, this is not the typical office. We don't have projects, are not forced to waste endless amounts of time in boring meetings that accomplish nothing, and we have a boss that trusts his employees to do their jobs without him standing over them.
I worked for the govt, so they had ways of finding out, if I would use their equipment for personl reasons. If I was an employer, I would not be pleased if my employee used my computer for any personal reason. I do not want to pay a salary for that person to use electricity, the computer and/or cost of fixing the computer, and my time, etc for the employee’s personal use.
The employee is getting paid to do a job on company equipment. If there is no work, then read, bring in your own computer or whatever, until you receive work. Oh, if there isn’t enough work, well good bye.
That may sound mean, but I have known too many lazy, irresponsible people earning a salary they didn’t deserve and other employees having to pick up the slack. I have worked at jobs where I used to cry because it was boring. But I was brought up with a work ethic, I work, do the job as best I can, I don't use their time for "goofing off" and if I don't like it, move on.
Actually, I did move on. Today, a lot of people don't have that kind of work ethics and I am not saying it is a good or bad thing.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
