I haven't read any of them...but personally Skinny Bitch seems like an appealing title to me lol. It seems like it would have a good ratio of humor and advice in it.(For those who don't know which authors and books are being discussed - askville.amazon.com/how-to-lose-weight/T...) In a society full of diet magic bullets, Mindless Eating is a refreshing change. Mindless Eating is a fantastic book. I must say that I was much more impressed by the book than the short quick answers that the author provided on Askville.
The book is about the research that Brian Wansink has done on how people behave around food and why we eat more than we think. The research is similar to what food companies research to get us to eat MORE, so the book points out how to outsmart marketing and make MINDFUL choices about the food that is going to effect our health. (Those 10 pounds that crept up over the past few years might be well explained by this book!).
OK, a book on research- I know- sounds boring. But it is actually quite entertaining & enlightening! The studies they conduct are pretty quirky and the way the information is presented is totally engaging and hilarious.
Most usefully, it provides super practical tips to fold some healthier habits into your life. For example, If you want to lose a few pounds: Designate an area eye level in your refrigerator for a plate. Fill the plate with some cut up fruit before you go to bed so that the first thing you see when you open the fridge in the AM is some cut up fruit to add to that sausage and egg breakfast.
After you’ve munched, re-fill the plate with veggies so that whenever you open the fridge for the rest of the day, you’ve got veggies welcoming you. My work includes teaching people to be more mindful around food choices and I’ve been sharing information in this book regularly with my clients. I also use "Eat this, Not That" often to point out how meals comprised primarily whole foods (Fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans, lean meats, etc) can provide a much more filling, satisfying meal with a much more appropriate calorie load than would meals with refined grains, extra additives, deep fried components etc. Great teaching tool, fun book to get the point across quickly and visually.
Check them out-I’d recommend them both. Sources: experience reading the books! 1 Yes, Skinny Bitch is the one that interests me now! LOL! When they were working on the page, it was funny as they had all the authors listed with no photos like they are now and the last name on the list was Skinny Bitch!
I thought that was funny! .

4 I've never even heard of them. But, gosh, is that title allowed to be used on Askville?! They seem to be monitoring "bad words" now!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
