The signal will degrade, RCA cables can only handle SD resolution of 480i, where an HDMI can handle 1080P. HDMI uses 13 conductors to transmit the video, audio and sync signals and RCA uses 3, 1 for video and 2 for audio(R+ L). If your TV has a component input you can get an HDMI to component adapter and retain HD quality.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
