Hi, I design lamps and I'd like to begin using inexpensive design software. Something that is not very complicated?

2 I Googled "CAD programs" computer aided design and found a number of free programs. I also saw a CAD program come through my email the other day. $25 supposedly for a $150 program must be excess, or new program coming out Check: store.worldstart.com/product.php?product... and decide yourself.

CAD programs require a learning period to be good at it.

Gary4books replied to post #2: 3 I spend two semesters learning "drafting" many years ago and CAD is basically the same with computer tools. But you have to know a lot to do it right. Even Autocad has a lower cost version.

4 Gary has a good link. Didn't realize so many places had them that cheap. I just remembered that the OPEN OFFICE a free Office type program has a part that is called DRAW.It might be worth looking at.

It is free and the other parts are good too. Check out: download.openoffice.org/ Whether the DRAW is useful to you, the rest will be unless you already have MS Office.

"Business owner wants to design tax software. "For software developers out there: What development methodologies do you use? "Why do programmers have to do software design?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
