Much as I love seeing revisionists and new evidences, turn and twist our views on human origins, you know, as I do, from that second Wikipedia link, that the method that was used to date the find was not safe. Personally, I would be very surprised to find that any archaic human, so closely resembling AMH, predates 200,000 in Asia, although we have plenty of evidence of early H. Sapiens in the Middle East and Arabia circa 120,000.

Indeed, if I was looking for an Asian origin, I'd be looking there rather than in China. It is without any doubt though, that the hominin lineage has it's earliest roots in Africa, with early hominin finds there dating back to between 7 and 2 million years. There is also strong genetic support that although the majority of our archaic human genes originate from Africa, that many modern people have also inherited a small percentage of genes from other archaic types, including from the Neanderthals, and the Denisovans.

There are also hints of other archaic inheritance from at least one African non-AMH population. There is a general suspicion suggesting more may have been involved. This suggests that our archaic genes around 200,000 years ago may have been concentrated in Africa (or controversially, not), but some were scattered across the Old World in other populations.

A hybrid if you like, of the "Out of Africa" hypothesis, and the "Multi-origins" hypothesis. I cannot comment on what is happening to the Chinese find, but I'm sure that if a better dating technology can be found for it, then at some point in the future, it will be tested. My hunch is that it is much younger than 210 kya.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
