After it is cooled (obviously).... jar it, or seal in container, such as spag. Sauce jar, milk jug, etc and throw it away. Works for me.
You could sloooooooooowly poor it down the sink with hot water but not good.
Save empty containers If you're talking about liquid oils, I save plastice bottles and pour the used oil in them (with a funnel AFTER it has cooled down) to dispose of used oils. Any container you can put a lid on tightly will do. If the fat used will solidify when cooled (lilke shortening or lard) then wait for it to cool back to solid and just scrape it into the trash.
Remember, you can reuse you cooking (frying) oil several times. Be sure you strain it though, and don't attempt to reuse it if it reached 400 degrees or more.
Let it cool, then pour it into a container. I was always taught to toss it down the sink. But I've heard that messes up the drain and pipes.
Since then, I've learned to first let it cool. Once it is room temperature, pour it into a bottle/container, etc. That you don't need. Then you have options: 1.
Some people just put on the lid and toss the container. 2. Others stick it into the freezer, freeze it solid and then toss it.
3. Southeners, like my in-laws, put the container in the back of the fridge and use it to cook things like "country fried steak gravy". Sources: my opinion/experience .
U can pour it into old coffee cans or other jars...like mayo/pickle jars stuff like that....
I don't know if it's environmentally correct but.... I put it in empty cottage cheese containers I have saved and throw it out. I use it as long as possible so it's not good for anything, I don't know what else you would do with it.
