How can I contribute to a class where the prof allows humiliating criticism of any pov but their own?

First off, don't be humiliated. I know it's hard when there's such a corrosive environment, but seriously take a stand. I used to do it all the time at UAB.

The best thing to do is not get confrontational, just speak your pov. Listen to criticism, and kill em with kindness. You'll be alright, just get through the class, but don't compromise what you think is right because of a little negative feedback.

You could try going to the department head or even the dean, but odds are it won't accomplish much of anything. I would say just go with the flow to earn a better grade. It's only one class, and if you are smart enough to understand the points of view, then you probably already know much of the subject matter being taught.

I've had classes like that, and my grade went from a defiant D- to a passing B+ simply because I just backed off. It's sad, but that is just sometimes how things are done. Luckily classes like that were far and few between, and more often than not, I could be opinionated and not be marked down for it.

Best of luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
