You can get those really fine screens (they have some in the air conditioner department) and place the fruit between two of them and that will allow air to circulate in and around them. Just make sure it is in a dry place or you will get mold instead. Another thing to think about is cool dehydration.
I saw it on Alton Brown and tried it myself. You can get those air conditioner filters (the cotton ones with ridges) and place the fruit/meat into the grooves. Then you can somehow attach them (I use bungee cords) to a large fan and turn it on medium and allow it to cool dry.
This prevents the fruit/meat from actually cooking but only dehydrating which makes it still chewy instead of hard. More.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
