You could also go to findagroomer.com for a worldwide directory of groomers. Then there’s always your local PetSmart or Petco which usually have grooming salons built into them. All these options however aren’t going to tell you if a groomer is particularly good or not though.

Not to mention that you may be looking for something specific, like their ability to groom a certain breed or their gentleness towards the dogs. I have found that Petco and PetSmart create a very stressful environment for the dogs because they are all in pretty close quarters of each other with loud dryers and hoses and things. The people that typically work there are not the nicest from what I have experience either.

I think your best bet is to go to your local, privately owned pet establishments (pet stores, veterinarians, doggie daycares, etc.) and see who they recommend. Usually the local businesses get feedback from clients on other pet related places just through word of mouth, so you can find out some interesting tidbits that you wouldn’t be able to figure out from a website or the phone book. Another thing to consider is how the groomer does business.

Some groomers take a lot of dogs at once and they all sit in cages all day. While others let the dogs run and play in a daycare type area and will only take one or two dogs at a time. These are some things to consider when looking for a good groomer.
