I never used Kubuntu and I didn't know that exist, I use Ubuntu 9.10 (free to download) and I play a lot with the setting, your computer system should recognized it automatically, is pretty easy to set up and it will be working in matter of seconds. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
