Then turn off the modem wireless, and follow the setup guide for your router to get it functioning.

Thank you but I did not state my question clearly. My laptop is fitted with a wireless modem. My router is hardwired to a server's modem which is hardwired to the server's cable.

I purchased the router from eBay and do not have an installation guide. My laptop is running on WIN XP and I have tried to install the router from directions given in Control Panel but no luck. I seem to recollect installing a router some time previous when I had to run IPConfig to set up the protocols but have now forgotten all about that!
