How can I keep pests out of my garden without using harsh chemicals?

In my experience as an organic gardener for over 20 years (in two states and four cities) gardening organically reduces the likelyhood of pests. I have had aphids and slugs and that is about it. Plants that are healthier are less suseptible to pests in the first place.

Here are some tips for having a healthier garden: herb-arium.com/gardencaretips.htm Planting a variety of plants with some that attract beneficial insects and others that repel insects can help also. I plant garlic throughout my garden because I like garlic and it provides some repellant benefits. I also plant garlic around the base of fruit trees and roses.

If you do have a pest problem strong blasts of water from a hose and/or insecticidal soap will take care of many pests. For slugs iron phosphate products including the brand Slug Out are not harmful to other creatures.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
