How can I make a curtain rod slippery so that a curtain will slide easily on it?

I bought new grommet type curtains and would like to use them on a wooden decorative rod that I already have but they won't slide so I can easily open and close them. The usual answer is some kind of oil lubricant, from 3 in 1 to WD 40. But that can both age and run off in the water + heat environment. I'd go with a teflon-based lubricant, which hardware stores should have..

1 the thought that comes to my mind is that you might try rubbing the curtain rod with waxed paper - just to put a light polish on it. I would think that any lubricant you tried to use on it would have to be a dry product, rather than an oil. I don't know if silicone spray or furniture polish would help or not.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
