There are several treatments that have proven to work although the sometimes debilitating pain can get the best of you. The first is the application of ice. Simply lay flat with two pillows under the knees and apply ice to the lower back for fifteen minutes.
This can be repeated up to every hour if necessary. It is important not to apply the ice for more than twenty minutes at a time because this can aggravate the condition. Applying ice will decrease the inflammation of the nerve and subsequently decrease pain.
Although this may a temporary solution, it does offer some relief. Visiting a Chiropractor is another form of treatment so the doctor can manipulate the spine to relieve the pressure on the nerve The goal of manipulation take the pressure off the nerve. Sometimes merely leaning the spine against a hard surface gives some temporary relief.
When I visited a physical therapist, she had me do these exercises after using a heating elements across my sciatic nerve. They were somewhat helpful in relieving the pain. The first exercise is laying flat on your back with your knees bent.
Squeeze or flex your buttocks toward the ceiling. Hold this position for a count of ten and slowly return to the neutral position. Repeat this four times.
Starting at the neutral position, bring each leg to your chest with both hands one at a time. Follow this by bringing both knees to the chest bringing your head up again holding for a count of ten and returning slowly to the neutral position and repeating four times. A third exercise is laying on your stomach and arching backwards with your elbows on the floor moving from a neutral position to a comfortable flexed position arching backwards as much as you can but discontinuing if back or leg pain worsens.
The fourth exercise is on your hands and knees, pushing your back toward the ceiling then pulling it to the floor, (this is often called the cat stretch). These exercises should be initiated slowly and if there is any pain or discomfort, to stop before you have pain. I would recommend doing these exercises two to three times a day.
You may try a diet that does not promote inflammation of all nerves consisting of fruits, vegetables and fish. This is one of the most powerful ways to treat the symptoms of inflammation which is what sciatic pain is. It is also recommended that you drink a lot of water every day since it can hydrate the discs in your spine.
My suggestion is to consult another doctor. My first sciatic nerve pain was caused from a ruptured disc and I had emergency surgery (lumbar disc laminectomy) I was told if I did not have the surgery immediately I could become paralyzed. eorthopod.com/content/lumbar-discectomyto repair the problem.
Here is information from mayoclinic. Com mayoclinic.com/health/sciatica/DS00516 I have had several years of sciatic nerve pain and 4 operations for degenerative disc disease. Please seek out a neurosurgeon to discuss your options.
There is a way to find some relief from your pain.
There are non surgical treatments too available for getting rid of Sciatic Pain. Ice and heat packs can be used to relieve the pain. There are Pain medications which are available as well, particularly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like COX-2 inhibitors, naproxen and ibuprofen.
Oral steroids also work well for lessening the inflammation and patients can try epidural steroid injections. Other treatments include exercise and physical therapy, manual manipulation and massage therapy. Acupuncture is also widely tried.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
