Often the people closest to us notice a change in behavior before we do, and in the case of depression, the sooner you nip it in the bud, the more likely you are to avoid another depressive episode. Sit down with someone who can help you monitor your depression and share your list of depressive behaviors. Point out that these are the signs that you may be becoming depressed again, and explain that if he or she notices any of these signs, to bring that to your attention immediately.
If your support person has noticed any possible signs of depression, think of an action plan together. Most people with depression wait too long to get help, thinking that it will just go away or that they can handle it on their own, but before they know it, they are spiraling into clinical depression. Before you get that far, make sure your support person knows what to do.
