How can our country even think of passing Sharia law? Isn't that putting one religion over another?

It's not that the US is going to pass sharia law, it's that the Muslims are going to bring it to the US. The way is has worked in England is there was a case where a Muslim was killed by a Muslim. Scotland Yard went in to investigate.

Nobody would talk with the police. The police couldn't solve the crime. The reason was that the Muslims had settled the problem through sharia law, where if someone kills someone, that person has to pay the family for that person's death.

Because sharia law allows Muslims to settle problems like this amongst themselves, they are basically circumventing the courts. And the UK government has had to give in. Here's a recent story about it:"ISLAMIC law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases."The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.

"Rulings issued by a network of five sharia courts are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or "It has now emerged that sharia courts with these powers have been set up in London, Birmingham, Bradford and Manchester with the network’s headquarters in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Two more courts are being planned for Glasgow and Edinburgh. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article4749183.eceSo it could happen here too!

Html.

No one here does. If it happened two years ago in England, it could most definitely happen here!.

It is not true. BS. Not happening.

Was never even discussed, or considered. It's a lie. It's crap like that that get people scared and outraged. Ugh.

Whoever told you this should be ashamed of themselves for telling flat out lies to start crap. Geesh, this s&it pisses me off. I am so tired of the bagger garbage in this country.

Oklahoma had to vote on it. TessieJo 12 months ago .

Ok, so I may have read it wrong, but just Google Oklahoma+Sharia Law and there are many articles on it if you are curious. Danzee is right. It could happen here.....after all President Obama only 50 years ago wouldn't even be allowed to drink from the same water fountain as whites, and now we have a black man as President.

Anything is possible. TessieJo 12 months ago .

Turbo is right, despite the strong language. Even if the hatebaters talk about it, it would not be one religion over another. It would be a religious law over the civil law.

And should never be considered.

TessieJo, Oklahoma's move to ban Islamic Law in Oklahoma was not an indication that our country is considering adopting it. In other parts of the world is that when Muslim communities become large, they start demanding Sharia law within their community, especially when it relates to family law. Oklahomans wanted to make sure that never happens in their state.

Thanks! I just KNEW someone on here could help me understand what went on! TessieJo 12 months ago .

Our country is NOT thinking about passing Sharia law. As a talikng point, it gets people stirred up but it isn't true.

It always amuses me when DanZee only quotes the part of an article that seemingly makes his point, figuring we're all too stupid enough to read it ourselves, and see the part that completely disproves his point. The part he didn't quote:=========================================Sheikh Faiz-ul-Aqtab Siddiqi, whose Muslim Arbitration Tribunal runs the courts, said he had taken advantage of a clause in the Arbitration Act 1996. Under the act, the sharia courts are classified as arbitration tribunals.

The rulings of arbitration tribunals are binding in law, provided that both parties in the dispute agree to give it the power to rule on “We realised that under the Arbitration Act we can make rulings which can be enforced by county and high courts. The act allows disputes to be resolved using alternatives like tribunals. This method is called alternative dispute resolution, which for Muslims is what the sharia courts are.

”=========================================In other words, the Muslim courts in UK have power only A) because of an obscure law giving legal authority to tribunals - which the US does not have, and B) when both parties agree to use the tribunals to begin with, which obviously wouldn't happen if anyone involved didn't agree with "sharia law".

The US isn't contemplating anything like Sharia law. You are being told stories.
