How can you create a good reading environment for children to enjoy reading at home?

I think one of the most important things you can do to get your children to read is to let them see you reading on a regular basis. But here are some suggestions for setting up a fun place to encourage reading. 1.

Set up a small indoor tent (similar to the one below) put a basket full of books and book light or battery operated lantern inside. 2. Create a small area in the corner of a room with large pillows, a good lamp, a throw cover, and a large basket or crate for books.3.

For summertime, perhaps you can create an outdoor area for both of you to enjoy; a cozy swing, pillows.

Take children (at early age) to the library and let them choose books...having their own library card helps them feel responsible too...read the book to them and give the child a chance to read to you. Ask them about the book if they liked it or not and what did they think the book would be about before it was read? This seems to work well for my 3 year old granddaughter and she can't wait to go to the library again to return the books and choose some new ones.

She loves to use her own card...like a Big Girl.

I suggest having a reading night where the whole family gets together and they read a book a loud. Make sure the book is age appropriate and have everyone participate. Keep it fun by doing voices for each of the characters and even having theme nights (Harry Potter comes to mind) where everyone can dress up like a character from the book and watch movies based on the book(s).

Ultimately, this is the best way to foster a good reading environment. Allow them to participate at an early age and they will have the foundation they need to pursue reading for the rest of their lives.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
