It wasn't organized, as evil as it is. What was organized was the systematic cover-up by the Vatican, and Bishops that knew this was going on. The devil made them do it, and you can't prosecute the devil.
They do sometimes use the RICO act against individual dioceses, e.g. :http://www.bishop-accountability.org/news2006/03_04/2004_07_23_Rose_RICOSuit.htmhttp://www.eurekaencyclopedia.com/index.php/Category:Rhode_Island_Diocesehttp://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=298326Conceivably, prosecuting the church as a whole would be possible, but it would be extremely unwise. It would spark a great deal of outrage to prosecute a religious group that large for the offenses of a relatively small number.(Though RICO is sometimes used against unions under similar circumstances.) There would be a perception of use of the government to harass a religion. But against individual dioceses, it's a valid tactic, as long as you've got a very strong case.Htm.
