How come most people aren't getting the fact, that it isn't safe to drive while talking on the cell phone?

Here in BC been illegal for over a year, with a $176 fine if caught, but just a quick look around while going down the freeway and you still see tons of people just yakking away, like the law doesn't include them. Because they are idiots. Who think they are the only ones of the face of the planet, and they hasve a right to blather mindlessly while putting the rest of us in danger. In short, typical spoiled, selfish, Americans.

Yeah, and Canadians to. Thanks for your reply TurboB. Squeeky-changes-suck 10 months ago .

And you know 99% of these people would never think of drinking and driving but have no problem with the cell phone and blasting down the road. Squeeky-changes-suck 10 months ago .

I hope some young genius invents some sort of chip that will become mandatory in new cars like drunkometers will that block cellphone signals. The auto insurance industry is already pushing this, but as usual the auto makers are resisting just as they did with seat belts. There already is a device out of Israel that blocks cellphone use in restaurants.

Idiots can't be trusted to do the right thing, so until it's taken out of their hands and made mandatory, like seat belts, we will have to continue to play car-dodge.

I like that idea maggo,and your right. Squeeky-changes-suck 10 months ago .

Because they think THEY are better. I remember when the laws first took effect, a guy posted here claiming that he could text message without looking at his phone.(BTW, the iphone has an app available that prevents it from opening the text messaging tools when the phone is travelling over 10 MPH - not sure if there is an override that lets a passenger use it) .

Thats a neat feature. Thanks for the reply. Squeeky-changes-suck 10 months ago .

The great "I Will" of humans: "I will do ________" and when they don't, it's ALWAYS the other guy's fault for getting in the way. We can make laws up the wazoo (oh, wait, we already have! ) The difficulty is in getting people to admit an inability (but I used to do this!) We are less and less able to get humans to admit they cannot do this (ah, the great task of safety training.

) .

The world has many, many stupid people. Driving while on a phone is the lowest order of stupidity.

Ya I agree, there is ALOT of stupid people out there. Thanks for your input. Squeeky-changes-suck 10 months ago .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
