How did societal "issues" influence cubism?

At or about the turn of the century (1900) when the camera was becoming a common tool painting changed forever. Artists were free to express themselves with their paint instead of recording the image. The camera could do that job now.

As a result, society began seeing things from fresh perspectives. Philosophical ideas flourished. This was an intoxicating time when Sartre et al became household names.

Braque (who invented Cubism) created a way to paint viewing objects from all sides at once. Of course, Picasso, who lived with Braque at the time jumped on the bandwagon and took a lot of the credit for inventing Cubism but that's another story. All this happened because of the camera!
