To answer your question Gene.. I don't think the focus of the working class is higher taxes or tax cuts for the rich.. Alot of working class people feel that they're losing their jobs, quality of life and benefits to minorities.. Therefore; their dislike of equal treatment for Hispanics or African Americans; prompts them to vote conservatively.
They didn't, I came up with it on my own. About two years ago I was doing my taxes as usual in February(?). After looking at my net and gross, viewing my bank statements and portfolio I was a little puzzled.
You see the previous year I had just finished my detailed and extensive plan to eliminate/reduce my debt. I wiped EVERYTHING except my house payment which is ONLY 70% of one weeks salary( I put down 25% to buy it so that it was affordable). First you have to take it into context, imagine having no car payments, credit card payments or loans of any kind other than the house I listed.
At the end of the year my savings account didn't reflect what I thought it should and it couldn't be due to my savings habits because I'm very frugal. I made a budget. Outlined all my expenses and found that the city, state and federal government take 47% of my income through various taxes.
I then calculated that it takes me 23% of my income in order to make income so that I can be taxed. That leaves a balance 30% which in my state has a 6% sales tax. I'm left with 24% of my income.
32%-fed 4.085%-state 1%-city 4%-property 1%-fuel 5%-other(utilities, phone, license,etc).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
