I have adopted a new child and need to make sure I recieve her mail at our home. She is keeping her original last name so it will be different then anyone else's living at our mailing address. How do I make sure the post office will deliver all of her mail to our home and not just mark it "no such person" or return to sender?

The first and MOST important thing to do is.... Contact the Post Office where she used to receive mail and have it ’forwarded’ to your address. I believe you/she will have to make out a ’change of address post card’ and sign it, and mail it to the original location. When her mail arrives there, they will put a yellow ’forward’ label on her mail and it will be sent to her new address.
I believe that ’junk’ mail and magazines will be forwarded for 6 months...and ’first class mail’ will be forwarded for one year at no charge. Next, stop by YOUR Post Office and add her name to your address. We’ve been receiving my sons’ mail (in FL) from Seattle for months.
The only problem is with bills...it seems to take a long time for the mail to be re-routed, the the ’due date’ is pretty close. The sooner you can notify the sender of the new address, the better. There’s a possibility that this can be accomplished ’on line’.
You may be able to print out the forms and put them out for your mail deliverer to pick up and take back to the Post Office. Congratuations on your new daughter.
1 Here is what she needs to tell people, when it comes to addressing her mail. The envelope needs to look like this:HER NameC/O your name C/o stands for in care ofstreet addresscity, state, zipYou might also want to leave a note for your mail carrier telling them to leave her mail.

2 You can go to the post office and add her name to your home mailing address. It's very simple and they'll know what you're talking about if you go and and tell them that you need to add a person to your home mailing address. Congratulations!

3 I am fairly certain that if you write a letter to:Mr. John Smiththat the Post Office is required to deliver it to your address--with or without a C/O. If you adopted the child, your home is the child's new home. You shouldn't have to use C/O.
C/O could make the kid feel like this is temporary. I think you just start using the address and the next time you see your regular mail carrier, speak to her or him. If you want to test it out, mail a welcome postcard to the child and see when it gets to your house.By the way, congratulations to all of you.
It sounds wonderful all around. PS--where I live, I am guessing 30% of wives maintain their maiden names. So having different surnames at a household is not an odd thing at all.

4 Fill out a change of addres form, available at the post office, or online (for like a $1 fee if you do it online). Enter the child's last known address for previous address, and your address for the new address.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
