How do I calculate for a fence in my backyard? The area is about 5500 square feet?

The area is about 5500 square feet. The neighbor on one side already has a privacy fence up so we will only need to fence in three sides (the back, the other side, and the front on one side - with a gate, of course!) Can't say from what you tell us. You can't tell how much fence you will need just knowing it is a 5500 square foot yard. At the two extremes, you might need as little as 5502 feet (if your yard is 5500 feet wide and one foot long, so you have one stretch of fence that is 5500 feet long, and two that are one foot long each) or as much as 11,001 feet (if your yard is one foot wide and 5500 feet long, so you need two stretches that are 5500 feet long, plus one that is just one foot long.) Neither is realistic, but it is just to show you the range that is possible.

You have to measure the width and length of your yard. One easy way to do it is to pace it off. First, walk ten paces and mark the beginning and end points.

Measure the distance. Then pace off the sides of your yard and divide by ten, then multiply by that length you walked in ten paces. Give it a little extra, because you are probably walking around the inside of your yard, and are therefore shorting the distance a little.

Another way is to use Google Earth. A friend of mine got satellite pictures of his house, printed the screen, then scaled up from some other feature he knew the length, I think a car.(I.e. , if a car that he knows is 8 feet long shows up as 1/2 inch long in the picture, then he knows that a 4 inch fence will fit 8 cars, or 36 feet.

) .

This sounds a little bit like a math problem :) It's pretty simple. You just need to take a tape measure and measure the length of the three sides you are going to build a fence on. If the yard is pretty close to square, then the sides are about 75 ft long.So you would need 75*3=225 linear feet of fence.

You don't calculate, you measure if you are tiling the floor, I would understand you would need some calculations. But for a fence, just go there and measure how long is each side of the backyard and add up. Hope that helps, ~ms wizdowl.com .

You should need about 13 1/2 yards or 40 feet. Get a friend and a tape and measure the perimeter .

My home is listed with 2277 square feet if living area, but I have an additional 1100 square feet in the "lower level.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
