How do I cook a baked potato in the microwave?

There is no need to wait an hour or more for a baked potato as long as you have a microwave. Make sure that you scrub the potato thoroughly before cooking. Prick it in several places with a fork as well.

Put the potato on a plate and cook it on full power for five minutes. Remove the potato and turn it completely over before placing it back in the microwave for five more minutes. Pierce it completely with a fork to ensure it is soft all the way through.

For an extra treat, cut the potato in half and mash the insides before adding butter, cheese or other toppings then pop it back in the microwave to melt everything together. Add some sour cream and you have a great meal.
