Honestly mate, it's never going to happen. I've been riding since the early seventies, and my parents (both in their late eighties now) still have misgivings. One point I will make is that motorcycles themselves are about as dangerous as plugging yourself into the mains supply, and should be treated as such.
The bigger dangers are incompetant riders, and car drivers that have never had any motorcycling experience, and there are millions. There will be occasions when you have to dump the bike on the floor - it happens to the best of us, but with proper protective gear on, and depending on speed, this will only lead to minor bumps and bruises. The big issue is when you have to stop rather suddenly, like when that car pulls out without seeing you - The Fatal event.
Bikes of the larger sizes are actually quite expensive to run, fuel is on a par with most diesel cars - 50 odd mpg, but insurance and maintenance are quite horrendous. Only you can know how you are going to ride - but even ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
