How do I potty train a 5 month old puppy?

Two words: confinement and schedule. Try getting a baby gate and keeping the pup in a specific small area, part of the kitchen for example. Put down piddle pads.

Feed and water on a strict schedule. Early morning feed puppy and allow water, pick up all uneaten food and water. Ten minutes later take puppy outside and just wait for mother nature to take it's course.

When puppy relieves itself outside Praise Praise Praise. Afterwards puppy may have the run of the living room or family room for 1/2 hour. Then back to the kitchen to a blanket for a nap.

Food and water two hours later, pick up food and water wait 10 min, take puppy out, potty, praise, praise, play, nap. Food, potty, play, nap. That is your life for a week or so.

Keep puppy confined to small area, even at night until it is asking to go out. Stay on schedule.

I don't know exactly but here are some tips..If your dog goes to the bathroom on the carpet or inside at all do not scold her or tell her "Bad DOG! " unless you are catching her in the act. Otherwise they get confused on why they are in trouble.

Reward her for good behaviors such as going to the bathroom outside. If she pees on the carpet be sure to get a product that completely gets rid of the smell because when a dog smells their pee on the carpet later it makes them want to go again in the same spot. (I learned some of this when I worked at a pet store.).

That was a good answer my kayla michelle. I wrote a hub on this - hubpages.com/hub/Howtopottytrainyourdog. You have to be patient and consistant.

Catch them in the act and take them outside. Other tips are in my Hub.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
