You have to chose the 'Format' option in the cameras menu. Click on the menu settings button and scroll through until you see 'Format' or 'Format Memory Card. ' This will erase all data on the memory card and reset it back to it's original state.

Never heard that term before. I don’t believe digital media can be reset. Or I am not sure what you mean by reset.

To erase the pictures you can either use your card reader and erase the pictures after you have sent them to your computer- or you can erase the pictures/files off of the card using your camera also. There is probably a delete button on your camera- you can manually delete each file that way or you can erase all of the files- to erase them all you will probably need to use the menu and find 'delete all'.
