I bought a 100% ribbed cotton sweater that's too large, I'd like to shrink it one size and make sure it keeps its form. Tag: wash warm, tumble dry medium. Asked by theotherone 34 months ago Similar questions: shrink 100% cotton sweater Home.

The problem with you question is that you are stuck with either one or the other. You either attempt to shrink the sweater by washing it in hotter-that-recommended water OR you return it for exchange. If your attempt at shrinking fails, you can no longer exchange.
Thus, you might want to look into the exchange for smaller size option first. If they refuse, then you know you are stuck with the item and can do what you want with it, including a failed experiment in fabric resizing. That said, I would hand wash it in hot water, wring it out, lay it out, and put it on to keep it from over-shrinking.
You might want to run the heater or wait for summer to do this.
1 There's really no guarantee that you can control the amount you shrink a garment. Common sense would suggest that hotter-than-recommended water would shrink it, hotter-than-recommended drying would (more or less) lock it in that shrunk size, but how shrunk it gets is a gamble using that approach... Not sure if there's a better way.

Darwinâ„¢ replied to post #2: 3 That would be too easy, silly! :-) .
4 Give it to my husband. He can ruin just about anything in the washer. LOLSeriously - I would try to return it if possible.
If not, I would take it to a professional cleaner. They may have some ideas as to how the garment will react with washing. Or take it to a tailor and have it re worked a bit so that it fits right.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
