How do I stop business to business telemarketers?

I have a business. I get many calls a week from telemarketers selling some service or other. How can I stop them calling?

I know the national do not call registry applies only to home/personal phone numbers. Is there some other method to use to stop them? They waste my valuable time.

Not Really . . .

But there are some loopholes You are correct on the law, so technically, you cannot stop them, but here's what we've done: VIRTUAL RING If you have a VOIP line for your business, you can put them on virtual ring. This is what we do and it works well. Once a telemarketer calls, if you have their number, you can program your VOIP phone to recognize the number and not pass it through to you or your voxmail.

What they hear is a virtual ringing. We did this at my office and greatly reduced the calls we get (a lot of them come from call centers, so one you get the number, you can screen them out). REQUEST INDIVIDUALLY THAT THEY DO NOT CALL YOU Our receptionist asks whether it is a telemarketing call.

Then she asks who the call is for. She then asks the caller to remove that name from the list. We have had limited success with this, but a few companies have heeded our warning.

I'll add that if they call again, we tell the dialer that we are reporting the organization to the state Attorney General and we ask for the caller's ID number. This works well. IF YOUR OFFICE IS IN YOUR HOME... You can actually get on the do-not-call list with the number.

This is a loophole that telemarketers hate, but it is a genuine exception. I can't use it, but many companies can. YOU CAN GET AN AUTOMATED ANSWER SERVICE THAT ANNOUNCES CALLS We now have a secretary but before we did, we had a call-announce system.

When the phone would ring, the system would require the announcement. When we heard them ask for a strange name, we didn't take the call. This is a little impersonal, but I just called a law office the other day and got it and it wasn't that big of a deal.

That's all I got! I know how annoying these are. Even with all our tricks, occasionally, these calls get through.

The spoils of war, I guess. OH... don't forget that there is a business-related "do not fax" law that can take you off the fax ads treadmill. Sources: battling..

Since they do business, you can't stop them unless you change your phone number. You let your service provider cut off the line (if it's postpaid) or if you are using prepaid phones, you can change sim or phone numbers. That way, they can't trace and bother you anymore.

They won't stop as long as you have your number still on with you. Sources: IT'S MY OWN OPINION.
