How to SUCCESSFULLY Potty Train your child in five hours or less - even if your child is resistant, and you've tried other methods before! Get it now!
This is how to train your cat to use the toilet: 1. Place the cat box right next to the toilet and keep it like this for a day. 2.
Place phone books underneath the litter box to make it raise up. Add a book daily until the box is level to the toilet seat. When you are raising the level of the box, take some litter out of it.Be sure to secure the litter box to the phone book or whatever it is sitting on so that it stays in place the the cat jumps onto it.
3. Then move the box 1 inch onto the seat and repeat this everyday until the box is directly over the seat. Continue to slowly decrease the amount of litter in the box so that you will be left with only a thin layer which is less than one inch of it left.
4. Then remove the litter box and replace it with the "training box." There are some options for this but what is important is to see to it that the "training box" can hold your cat's weight if they jump onto it.
Raise up the toilet seat and tape a piece of wax paper over the hole to make the toilet look like a drum. Then lower the seat over the wax paper and add flushable litter. Raise the toilet seat and tape a bowl or aluminum pan on the edges.
You have to lower the seat down to hold the bowl in place and add flushable litter. There is a commercially training device available in the market specifically for this purpose.5. Then condition the cat using only the toilet.
Cut a hole about one inch in diameter in the center and gradually increase the size of the hole until it is gone, this is if you are using wax paper or aluminum can. When using a training seat, remove the rings one at a time. You should do this gradually to help the cat get used to urinating or defecating into water.
No matter which method you are using always reduce the amount of litter so that there is no litter when the paper bowl or device is removed. The length of the training depends how flappable your cat is but usually it take at least two week.
There are products on the market that claim they do work. I tried one once and mine refused. Not all cats will.
The process takes about 8 weeks, so you'll have to exercise patience. I do believe that it's worth the expense and effort, though. And someday I may run across one of my cats who will agree to use a human toilet.
The three I have now won't, but other cats will. You just have to give yours a shot and see. You mentioned keeping yours inside to prevent sunburn.
If you have a Rex or a Sphynx, I wish you the best of luck. I did train my Rex to a leash so he could take short walks outside in the back yard (temperature permitting), but that was about it. Perhaps a Sphynx has a better "training capacity or willingness."
Best of luck to you.
