How do you add and subtract negative mixed numbers?

When you have a mixed number, the best thing to do is to convert it to an improper fraction, ie. The numerator is greater than the denominator, ie. The top of the fraction is bigger than the bottom, eg. the mixed number 2+3/4 = 2/1 + 3/4 = (2/1) x (4/4) + 3/4 = (2x4)/(1x4) + 3/4 = 8/4 + 3/4 = 11/4.

When adding or subtracting fractions, you need to get their denominators equal to each other, eg. 1/3 + 1/2 = (1x2)/(3x2) + (1x3)/(2x3) = 2/6 + 3/6 = 5/6. 1/3 - 1/2 = 2/6 - 3/6 = -1/6. Finally, when you're adding or subtracting negative numbers, you're really just subtracting or adding the positive number, eg. 1/2 + -1/3 = 1/2 - 1/3 = 1/6 1/2 - -1/3 = 1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6.

Now let's put it all together... 2+3/4 + -1+1/3 = 11/4 + -4/3 = 11/4 - 4/3 = 33/12 - 16/12 = 17/12 = 12/12 + 5/12 = 1+5/12. 2+3/4 - -1+1/3 = 11/4 - -4/3 = 11/4 + 4/3 = 33/12 + 16/12 = 49/12 = 48/12 + 1/12 = 4+1/12. Good luck on your test.

You need to make the fractions have the same denominator to be able to add/subtract them. Then with mixed numbers you need to change them into fractions. EX- 2/4+5/3= find the smallest common denominator which is 12.

So it would be 6/12+20/12. Then just add the numerator and keep the denominator. The answer is 26/12 or 2 1/6 simplified.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
