How do you deal with telemarketers?

I generally do the same thing, jillbeth. I rarely hangup without getting them to give up first - usually, I give them one or two "yes, but's" before shutting them down. Depending on my mood or what is going on, I may hang up; more often, I start laughing at their "yes, but's" until they figure out that they are not going to get anywhere.

When I'm really in a playful mood, though, I have been known to respond to their "thank you for taking my call" by saying something like: "I'm so glad you called. We have a new credit insurance product that will help you and your family in the event of unemployment, illness or death. Would you like to hear more details?"

After a couple of moments of stunned silence - and if I can keep a straight face - I will start talking about the free 30-day, no obligation trial period. We either start laughing at that point, or (more likely) I hear a *click* in the middle of my shpiel (how RUDE! ) One of my kids has occasionally used "No hablo ingles" - although she's had that backfire when the telemarketer responds in Spanish.

Soooooo, jill, did I tell you about the ski/snowboard lift tickets that I'm giving away in return for a charitable contribution?

My only answer will be that frankly speaking, without any argument, I will say that -thanks for your information, but sorry I am not interested....

I used to be polite and talk with them as they wanted However my phone rang up a lot such that telemarketing interfered with my life Then I decided one day to simply hang up anytime I hear a telemarketer. You know what? Now almost none of them calls me; it's so quiet. So you don't need to be ashamed if you hang up-they spam your life.

If telemarketers get offended, they simply can find other job.

You can get your name on the do not call list and when they do call tell them to take them off their call list.

Tell them you already brought the things that they are selling . Peiod it work so many times in my own life.

Call screening is one good option. From here you can send unwanted calls to your voicemail service. You can then weigh the significance of each incoming calls without answering each one of them.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
