You don't want it to be ostentatious and you don't want to make them feel like they have to reciprocate. I have had this feeling many times in the past. Now I know a good way to solve the dilemma.
When I am shopping for the baguette, I try to buy the lightest color I can find. I don't want it to be over-baked. I am going to put it into the oven to heat up a bit and don't want it to look burned.
