It happens to metal clay artists a lot. When you work with PMC or Art Clay you sometimes have leftover clay that gets dried out and hard. This tutorial will explain how to reconstitute that old metal clay so you can reuse it in new art jewelry creations.

Decide whether your want to create slip or use the re-hydrated clay as lump. If your PMC is completely dry, your best bet is to make the metal clay into slip. Once reconstituted, you can use the metal clay slip to attach the clay to clay or to cover leaves and other items for "casting."

You can also use the metal clay slip to paint on glass or porcelain beads as a silver accent. Although you can technically reconstitute bone dry clay as lump, it is difficult to work with and you are unlikely to be pleased with the results. Slip, on the other hand, can dry out and be reused (again and again) for a long time.
